Injuries to the mouth or damage to the teeth are frightening events. They are especially frightening for the loved ones of the injured. Here is what to do before you see your Emergency Dentist Walingford.

Lost Tooth

If a tooth has been knocked out, you have about one hour in order to save that tooth. You need to get to an Emergency Dentist in Walingford as soon as possible. Rinse the tooth with warm water. Do not try to scrub the tooth clean. Leave alone any tissue or skin attached to the tooth. Try to place the tooth back in the socket. If it will not easily go back inside, place the tooth in a container of milk and bring with you to the emergency dentist.

Chipped Tooth

If possible, find the tooth fragment and bring with you to the dentist. Rinse the damaged tooth and fragments with warm water. If the tooth is bleeding, cover broken tooth with sterile gauze to prevent infection.

Lost Crown or Temporary

Crowns are incredibly expensive to replace. They are most likely to come off in the first month of your new crown. Save the crown or temporary crown in a clean plastic bag. Place a clean cotton swab in clove oil or oral pain killing gel and gently dab any painful areas in the exposed tooth. See your Dental implant dentist or emergency dentist as soon as possible.

Broken Braces or Wires

Wires or braces that break can sometimes be manipulated into a more comfortable position using pencil eraser to gently put the wires in place. Do not force them. Do not try to cut the wire off. If the wires or broken braces are gouging into your cheek or causing pain, place cotton balls, sterile gauze or orthodontist wax over the sharp ends. See your dentist as soon as possible.

Lost Filling

If a filling comes out or crumbles, it exposes a big hole in your tooth. Chew a piece of sugarless gum and stick in the hole. You can also use temporary dental cement sold over the counter at most drug stores. See your dentist as soon as possible to replace the filling or you may wind up losing the tooth.
